Drug & Alcohol Abuse

Drug dealing and its effects are a concern for many of Oxford's Neighbourhood Action Groups (NAGs). However, the results of the 2010 Community Safety Talkback survey showed that only 10.3% of the Talkback panel believed that people dealing or using drugs had got worse in therir area, compared to 19.1% in 2004.

OSCP work with agencies to tackle drugs, under Thames Valley Police's Operation Falcon. OSCP has also funded Action Days in many of our neighbourhoods to raise awareness of drug abuse and dealing and has developed and applied its Drug House Protocol to close premises that are being used by people who use Class A drugs.

Oxfordshire's Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) commission drug and alcohol support across the county for young people, adults and people affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use. Services range from needle exchange in pharmacies, to one to one structured support, drop-ins, medical detox and counselling.

Recently, Oxfordshire was chosen as one of the pilot areas for the Government's Drug Recovery Payment by Results Service for 2012.
