Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Watch is a partnership where people come together to make their communities safe, through developing closer links with the police and sharing information.  In Oxford, there are over 700 Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators that help to prevent crime and make their community a safer place to live and work.

You can join as a group with your neighbours, or join as an individual.  As a member, you will receive alerts via email, text, fax or phone call, which provide information about particular incidents that have happened in your area and details of people or vehicles the police may be looking for. Neighbourhood Watch also provides a mechanism for you to provide information regarding incidents, potential crime and anti-social behaviour in your street or community.

If you are interested in finding out more about Neighbourhood Watch or wish to get involved, please contact Michelle Beahan on (01865) 335133.

Student Watch

In September 2009, Student Watch was established to inform students coming to study at Oxford about community safety concerns.

At the beginning of each academic year, Thames Valley Police's Crime Reduction Advisor and Neighbourhood Watch Administrator attend Oxford Brookes University and Oxford University Freshers Fairs to encourage students to sign up to the scheme.  This year nearly 2000 new students signed up.

The service is free and keeps students updated with information about crime, and advice to help them stay safe and keep their belongings safe. If you are a student and would like to know more, then go to
