Oxford Safer Communities Partnership

Performance

OSCP measures its performance through:
  • Crime Statistics (provided by Thames Valley Police).
  • How the public perceive Oxford City Council and Thames Valley Police to be tackling crime in Oxford.  Residents' views come from the annual Community Safety Talkback survey carried out by Oxford City Council.  Local Neighbourhood Action Groups (NAGs) also regularly consult residents about their concerns.
Crime statistics: The table below shows the number of incidents of crimes in Oxford, for the months stated, during the current financial year (2011/12) and last financial year. The fourth column shows the percentage change in crimes between these years and the fifth column shows the annual targets that OSCP needs to meet. These figures are the same as the Oxford Local Police Area targets.

Public Perception

For the past three years, Oxford City Council's Annual Community Safety Talkback survey has included a question about how much respondents agree or disagree that the police and local council are dealing with anti-social behaviour and crime issues that matter in their area.

By taking the result of the survey and adding the number of people who responded 'strongly agree' and 'tend to agree', we can gauge the public perception of the police and Oxford City Council's performance when it comes to dealing with crime and ASB.
The score for Oxford was 41.6% in 2009, and 50.2% in 2010, which showed an increase in public confidence. The results for 2008, 2009 and 2010 are shown in the chart below.

The most recent Community Safety Talkback survey took place at the end of 2011 and results will be added to this website when they are available.
